It's been a good 15 years at least since I have hiked all the way to the summit of Cowles Mountain. It is 1.5 miles up, nearly 1600 ft. and is the highest point in the city of San Diego. I left work a little early yesterday afternoon to do this. I was excited because I had my IPOD! I got all set at the base and turned it on and....it had no battery charge. UGH!! But the hike was good as was the time to just let thoughts slip in and out of my mind during the hike. I had had a crummy day at work - I was yelled at by an instructor for cleaning up a classroom...long story. I did take m y camera and shot this photo. That is lake Murray in the pic.As you know, we are facing a huge budget crisis here in the state of California. I was told this week, that I am not *really* a state employee and shouldn't worry too much. OK....well, I have colleagues 'released' here where I work. Last night I had the opportunity to dialog with one of the Board of Trustees and develop questions about what options there are to meet our 10 million dollar budget shortfall at our workplace...It was a good meeting.
It makes me think about the industries across the nation - for example, I wonder if my son will be employable when he graduates...If you think that your neighbor or friends are a little more stressed than usual, they probably are. Everyone is a little more on edge and maybe your friend's husband just lost his job - or maybe the cable bill increase, just got too high. Let's be patient with each other...Remember, were all in this together and I mean nationwide, not just here with the Governator in California.
