This is a classic Christmas family memory. One year my daughter found our "Christmas Gift List". We had written down gifts we had purchased and the dollar amount so that we could keep track of spending. On it was written "Harry Potter Book" $25. My daughter found the list before Christmas and confessed that she "didn't want anything that wasn't on her list".
Veronica didn't ask for a Harry Potter book, but she went on to be the president of the "Harry Potter Club" at the university and happens to have many, many collectibles. In fact, I laugh as I write this because indeed, this year, she ASKED for Harry Potter books.
It is quite the family joke these days; Veronica will ask "Mom, did you buy me anything from my list?" I always tease her with my answer: "NO, I only bought you Harry Potter Books!"
